Rocco Borghese Voted “Best Architectural Lighting Design” in London
The contribution by Rocco Borghese Chandeliers to Martin Brudnizki’s redesign of Annabel’s was recently voted “Best Architectural Lighting Design” in a poll*, by a panel of industry professionals. The lighting installation innovation was also listed one of 10 Unforgettably Mesmerising Spaces by contemporary interior design and lifestyle almanac Livingetc.
Following their part in the lavish and immaculately lit refurb of private members’ club Annabel’s in Mayfair, London, Rocco Borghese Chandeliers has received praise from some of the keenest interior design influencers. Not only have the people spoken but the industry press has named the perky powder room project one of its top picks.
Berkeley Square’s Annabel’s, one of the world’s most elegant clubs, benefited from a £55 million redesign by internationally acclaimed interior architect and designer Martin Brudnizki. A project for which Rocco Borghese Chandeliers was honoured to consult and design.
Rocco Borghese Chandeliers helped to create the splendour of Annabel’s now iconic women’s powder room with a bespoke lighting design. A challenge but no chore, the certified lighting designer insists, this high-end lighting project involved creating a fairy-tale-like wall of hand-blown glass roses to frame and illuminate the vanity. Shades of pink – from blush to cerise – were woven with layers of Verde Leaf greens to give ultimate charm with a little cheek. The architectural art installation is brought to life with hidden halo lighting, one of this season’s hottest luxury decorative lighting trends.
London nightclub Annabel’s, “a place to entertain and be entertained”, strives for an unforgettable atmosphere. This is supported by a solid foundation of expert interior design that marries comfort with glamour – a dream project Brudnizki, who has also worked with clients such as Four Seasons and the Royal Academy of Arts.
The Martin Brudnizki Design Studio claims that at the heart of their work lies: “a profound commitment to the individual and their experience of an interior. Through the careful study of a project’s context and a client’s lifestyle, a dedication to functionality and a love of layering different materials, textures and styles, the Studio hand-crafts environments that enable our clients to develop personal and long-lasting relationships with their interior spaces”. And this attention to detail can be seen in spades at Annabel’s.
Comments from Martin & Rocco
On creating the iconic powder room Brudnizki comments: “This could be one of my favourite rooms in the entire membership, regardless of not being allowed in it. I really like the tented ceiling, layers of materiality and its cosy, snug vibe. Plus, everybody is aware the most effective gossip occurs right here!”
UK architectural lighting specialist Rocco Borghese comments on his contribution to the saucy yet super space: “It was a highly enjoyable challenge to create a magnificent wall of delicate roses. A palette of pinks and Verde Leaf greens combine and are lit with hidden halo lighting for a soft glow. I am proud to have been the main lighting consultant and designer for the development of this project. The powder room, a real picture in pink, looks sensational – as do the rest of Annabel’s revamped rooms.”
